Seeders, or drills implements designed to sow seeds, unlike planters, seeders are available in a variety of types, and are generally not as precise at seed placement as a planter, but they share one common function, to distribute seeds evenly. Seeders or drills are available in two common designs, gravity fed box drills, using a hopper on top of the seeding units to gravity feed seed down a tube into the newly opened seed trench, and air seeders, which work similar to the box drill, however an air seeder has the seed located in a central hopper, which can be located in an external cart, or on top of the air seeder toolbar, from this central hopper, the air seeder uses a fan to blow the seeds to the seeding units.
